Michelle Knight
Contract experience
Michelle has advised on a range of construction contracts, specifically the PPP relating to large scale public works and infrastructure projects and disputes. Michelle has also assisted on disputes arising on projects governed by the NEC suite of construction contracts.
Dispute resolution experience
A substantial portion of Michelle’s experience has focused on dispute resolution within construction law. This has provided a broad understanding of both PPP related dispute resolution (adjudication), and Technology and Construction Court (TCC) processes and procedures. Since joining Fenwick Elliott, Michelle has principally been involved in an ICC arbitration in relation to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Crude Oil Pipeline Project.
Career
Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Business Management) from the University of Western Sydney, including a semester of distinction in Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, and Osgoode Hall/York University in Toronto. Having completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in March 2008, she was admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of NSW in February 2009.
In relocating to London, she initially undertook short term assignments to Germany and France for an ICC arbitration involving an engineering dispute at the Charles De Gaulle Airport, as well as assisting with an International arbitration concerning an Indian Oil Refinery. In 2009, Michelle commenced working initially for a rail contractor in relation to various disputes, until secondment to Hogan-Lovells LLP for an adjudication arising out of a large PPP rail infrastructure project in the UK.
