Lucy Goldsmith
Lucy specialises in all major forms of dispute resolution including arbitration, litigation, adjudication, mediation and expert determination. She has a broad range of experience in both domestic and international construction disputes and acts for employers, contractors and subcontractors.
Lucy has experience with all major standard forms of contract, including FIDIC, JCT, NEC and ICE forms, and advises on a wide range of bespoke contracts.

Lucy has significant experience of high value disputes in relation to civil engineering and energy projects.
Examples of Lucy’s specific experience include:
- Acting on behalf of a joint venture contractor in high value ICC arbitration proceedings (circa £100 million) in relation to disputes arising out of a complex civil engineering project in Doha, Qatar. Advising in relation to contract interpretation, delay and disruption, loss and expense claims, and termination.
- Acting for an EPC subcontractor in potential ICC arbitration proceedings concerning issues arising from a power generation facility in Qatar. Value of the dispute in the region of £100 million.
- Acting for the EPC contractor in an ICC arbitration concerning delays to a refinery project with amounts in dispute of approximately $40 million.
- Acting for a joint venture contractor in relation to a potential high value (circa £150 million) dispute arising from a UK off shore wind farm project. Advising on various contractual issues, entitlement to extensions of time and associated additional costs as a result of variations and developing overall strategy.
- Advising a European contractor on dispute avoidance and claims on a number of UK offshore wind farm projects.
- Advising a financial institution in relation to resilience upgrade works at a data centre. Advising on specific legal issues including delay, extension of time, associated financial claims, health and safety and termination.
