Julie Stagg
Julie has specialised in construction law since qualification and advises on non-contentious matters for a broad range of clients including major developers, banks, institutional investors, universities, housing associations, registered social landlords (RSLs), retailers, professionals and contractors.
Julie also advises on insolvency issues, construction aspects of agreements for lease, development agreements, agreements for sale and facility agreements. She also deals with EU procurement and with Public and Private Partnership arrangements in the health care sector, such as NHS LIFT schemes.
Specialist expertise
Julie’s work focuses solely on non contentious matters and she has Julie has experience of all principal domestic standard form contracts and sub-contracts including JCT, ICE, MF1, GC/Works, NEC2, NEC3, DOM/1 and DOM/2, together with FIDIC forms used in both an international and a domestic context. Julie has also worked with bespoke forms of contract including EPC contracts, for domestic construction, infrastructure and power projects. She specialises in advising on procurement structures, risk profiles, tendering procedures, drafting and negotiating building contracts and construction due diligence for investment purposes for a wide cross section of clients.
Examples of Julie’s experience include:
- Acting for a UK subsidiary of a US specialist engineering company in connection with three regional EPC projects to refurbish existing coal fired power plants. Average project value £250 million.
- Acting in conjunction with Hungarian counsel on behalf of the state owned employer for the second phase of a €1 billion metro project in Hungary funded by the European Investment Bank.
- Advising a project sponsor in respect of procurement issues and construction risk allocation for the proposed development of a 123 storey skyscraper in Seoul.
- Advising on the establishment of a professional estates consultancy framework for multiple operators to facilitate the delivery of new build and refurbishment projects for clinical, academic and research purposes. Value range of between £2 million and £80 million.
Other activities
Julie participates in both internal and external construction law seminars and has spoken on a range of topical issues. Julie also organises and runs bespoke in-house training sessions for clients.
