Julie Stagg

Contract experience
Julie has experience of all principal domestic standard form contracts and sub-contracts including JCT, ICE, GC/Works, DOM/1 and DOM/2, together with FIDIC forms used in both an international and a domestic context. Julie has also worked with bespoke forms of contract for domestic construction and infrastructure projects.
General experience
Julie has specialised in construction law since qualification and advises on non-contentious matters for a broad range of clients including major developers, banks, institutional investors, professionals and contractors. Her experience includes advising on procurement structures and risk profiles, drafting and negotiating building contracts (including bespoke agreements for specific clients) and construction due diligence for investment purposes. Julie also advises on insolvency issues, construction aspects of agreements for lease, development agreements, agreements for sale and facility agreements. Julie has some knowledge of EU procurement and is also familiar with Public and Private Partnership arrangements in the health care sector, such as NHS LIFT schemes.
Career
Julie obtained an honours degree in law from Girton College Cambridge. She completed her legal practice course at the College of Law in Guildford and qualified in 1997. Julie worked as an assistant solicitor in the construction department of Herbert Smith LLP before joining S J Berwin LLP in 2004. She became a partner at Fenwick Elliott in September 2007.
Other activities
Julie participates in both internal and external construction law seminars and has spoken on a range of topical issues.
Memberships
Julie is a member of the Society of Construction Law.
