General experience

Rebecca qualified with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand in 2002. She was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in April 2003.

Before joining Fenwick Elliott in August 2006, Rebecca practised as a solicitor with Fortune Manning in Auckland, New Zealand for three years where she gained a broad range of both contentious and non-contentious experience in property, finance, insurance and commercial disputes. Rebecca has played a leading role in a number of high profile property finance and commercial property transactions. She has also appeared as counsel in the District and High Courts of New Zealand and has experience in ‘leaky building’ litigation in New Zealand.

Career

Since joining Fenwick Elliott, Rebecca has specialised in the resolution of disputes in the construction industry, with a focus on disputes in the oil and natural gas sectors. Rebecca has been involved in the resolution of disputes involving standard and bespoke project documentation, through adjudication, arbitration and in the TCC and has gained experience in issues such as disruption, prolongation, contract formation and determination or repudiation, defects claims and payment issues. Rebecca regularly contributes articles to Building Magazine and other journals.
